Est. In 2004
Eyesmate Optical was open by two individuals with over twenty years of experience in the optical industry. The company was formed by Kitty Hau and Johnny Yau in 2004.
Kitty, who has over twenty years of experience as a store manager and merchandise buyer, serving the lower east side community. Her expertise in frame selection has built a reputable relationship with her clients from all over the world as a professional frame stylist.
Johnny, licensed to practice in New York since 1998 has over twenty years of experience. His expertise is the infrastructure of operating from the lab to managing the sales floor. Starting as an apprentice at the age of fifteen, he works his way into managing high-end eyewear boutique in New York. Together they quickly established a strong reputation by presenting the most fashion-forward eyewear with exquisite displays and providing personalized service to offer the perfect eyewear for each individual customer.
Dr. Julia Kim is an insightful, thorough optometrist treating patients in New York City and the surrounding communities. Her primary goal as a practitioner is to fit her patients’ visual needs and make them happy.
Our Optometrist and staffs are New York State Licensed, we really take the time to explain the condition of your eyes and help you find the perfect pair of glasses and sunglasses.

Dr. Julia Kim

Kitty

Jia
Jia's duties include a mix of administrative and eye care tasks, such as hiring and training staff, managing inventory, processing insurance and billing, submitting work orders for eyeglasses and contact lenses, adjusting eyeglasses, and maintaining client records. He speaks English, Chinese, and Japanese.
Dr. Choy
Dr. Choy has had extensive training to conduct low vision, pediatric, and primary care comprehensive eye exams. In her free time, she participated in volunteer community vision screenings for the local community as well as other vision centers abroad. Dr. Choy is thrilled to be an optometrist at Eyesmate Optical in New York City, NY. With her clinical experience, she believes in performing quality eye exams for her patients and serving the community.
